Caramel colour is a water-soluble food colour made by heating carbohydrates. It gives food and drinks a richer, more appealing colour. We supply Class I (E150a, plain caramel), Class III (E150c, ammonia caramel) and Class IV (E150d, sulfite ammonia caramel).

What is the difference between Class I, III and IV caramel colour?

Class I (E150a) is plain caramel. Class III (E150c) is ammonia caramel, common in soy sauce, beer and bakery. Class IV (E150d) is sulfite ammonia caramel, common in soft drinks. The right class depends on your product's pH, salt and alcohol content.

Do you have low 4-MeI caramel colour?

Yes, low 4-MeI (4-methylimidazole) grades are available. Tell us the limit you need.

Is the caramel colour Halal?

Yes. It is Halal and Kosher certified, gluten free and vegetarian, from an FSSC 22000, ISO 22000 and HACCP certified partner factory.
